About St. Vincent's

A handful of schools in India have had the privilege of celebrating 150 years of existence, and this year, St. Vincent’s High School makes it to this list. What makes the school unique is its reputation for academic excellence combined with an impressive sports record. St.Vincent’s has retained the inter-school championship for the last 70 years, and produced sportsmen of high calibre. That the alumni share a strong bond with the school, is evident from the contributions they have made in the past, to the infrastructure. The school was gifted a swimming pool, football field and basketball courts by various batches of alumni.

Vision

Doing the right thing, at the right time.

In the sesquicentennial year, alumni across the world have come together to make a ‘never- before’ gift of a state-of-art, integrated multi-sports infrastructure. Their vision is to see Vincentians representing India in world sports. Titled SVSV, or St.Vincent’s Sports Vision, the project is professionally managed by a committee and will be executed in three phases. Upon completion, the school would have a world-class sports facility and coaching centre with professional coaching talent. The SVSV will fund the infrastructure and a part of the operating expenses. The facility will comprise of a 400-meter synthetic track, pole vault, high jump, hurdles, shot-put, long jump and triple jump, multi-sport synthetic courts with volleyball, tennis and softball. Moreover, facilities like viewing and shooting galleries, LED scoreboards, retractable stands will support the centre.

Mission

We make the most of all our students.

The project involves a gigantic financial outlay and strong managerial capabilities. But the team has no doubt on the benevolence of the alumni and the talent pool within it. Collections are pouring in from around the world, and a qualified team is short-listing consultants, evaluating specifications and assessing vendor capabilities. The SVSV team assures us that this will be a one-off facility in the country, which will thrust the Vincent’s flag even higher. This project, the team feels, will set an example of what the spirit of an alma mater can achieve; and hopes to encourage other schools to take this path to improve India’s sports culture.
